Washi Unique
Washi unique is a hand-crafted material with an exclusive pattern that is individually designed to order. The master draws each pattern in fibre, so no two panels can ever be the same.
Washi Unique is where our material becomes art. Where Washi and Woven Washi are collections, Washi Unique is a single piece: designed for one project, made once, never repeated. Pattern, texture and color are shaped together with you, then formed by hand in a Japanese workshop that has kept the craft alive for generations.
An art object with no analogues
The fibers are white by nature. Every color in a Washi Unique panel - from the palest cream to a deep, saturated black - comes from natural dyes alone. Choose a shade from our palette, or work with us and the master on a bespoke tone that belongs to your interior. The same is true of the pattern: tight or open, calm or expressive, it is drawn for your room and for no other.
Material & making
Washi Unique is untreated kōzo paper in its purest form: no lamination, no coating, nothing between the fiber and the light. It is made for our Flow system, where each panel hangs free between a top rail and a weighted bottom rail, and rises or lowers at a touch - by counterweight or by motor. In daylight the pattern reads as a drawing on the window; at night, against lamplight, it becomes a lantern.
Each panel is made to order, in the size the space requires. There are no standard dimensions and no stock: only the piece that is made for you.
